Coaching Summary: I tell my young players to “play for yourself.” Once they have established a passion for the game, they will be in a position to benefit their teammates, and grow as an individual. At this level, it is very difficult to succeed if you don’t love the game and are willing to work hard. I also believe that we need to train players not only in technical skills, but also creating an environment where they are learning decision-making (with and without the ball).
Education: Masters in Physical Education, Athletic Administration, Seattle Pacific University B.A. in Education, Western Washington University Washington State Principals Certificate, Seattle Pacific University
Most Memorable Soccer Highlight: My most memorable highlight was when I was the Assistant Men’s Coach at Western Washington University in 1989. We knocked off teams such as Whitworth, Evergreen, Simon Fraser, and Warner Pacific to qualify for the National Tournament in New Mexico, a tournament that created lifelong friends and many great stories.
Personal/Other: I am married, and we have a son who is 14. I am currently in my 17th year as an educator in Washington.
