Each year many of our players look for a higher level of play. The answer may be the EYSA Club Select Program. Each Club in our Association is given the opportunity to have one or more Club Select teams for both boys and girls U-13 and older players, with tryouts open to all players.
Club Select play, which is often referred to as District Select, is a level of play in which the involvement is typically somewhere between that of recreational and premier play. It usually appeals to the player seeking a level of competition higher than recreational ball, and for players not able or willing to commit to a year-round program. Generally, the travel, cost and time commitment of this program is considerably less than that of the premier program, but more than recreational. Coaches are required to meet minimum qualifications, which the sponsoring Club monitors. Issues such as practice location, team finances, pre- and post-season tournament participation are items addressed independently by each team.
No advance registration is necessary for Club Select tryouts. Registration is in-person at the field 20 minutes before the tryouts. This leaves time to complete paperwork, warm up and receive your tryout jersey. Bring a water bottle, shinguards covered with socks, a ball, and soccer shoes (no baseball cleats) and dress for the weather! Please do not wear your team jersey. A parent/guardian signature will be required at sign-up. In addition, if a player did not register with a WSYSA Association in 2006, they will need to produce a copy of a certified State issued birth certificate, passport or military ID and pay a $12.00 registration fee made out to the club, in order to ensure medical coverage.
It is strongly recommended that a player attend all tryout dates in the age group that applies in order to be seen by all evaluators. If you cannot attend the first session, call the respective coach/club to advise them of your situation.
Tryout dates for Fall 2008 teams are now posted.
