Club Select (U10-U18)

The Select or Club Select soccer program requires an annual tryout and is a level of competitive play between Mod/Rec and Premier. Select soccer typically appeals to the player seeking a level of competition higher than Recreational play provides, but who is not able or willing to commit to the year-round program that is part of Premier soccer. Club Select begins at U10, however some clubs in EYSA choose not to begin the program until the U11 age group.

Each of the 5 clubs that comprise the Eastside Youth Soccer Association (EYSA), have the opportunity to field at least one Select team at each age level. In general, the travel, cost and time commitment of Select soccer is considerably less than that of Premier programs, but quite a bit higher than Recreational. Club Select coaches are usually paid coaches and are required to have at least an "E" license certification by US Soccer, and we encourage coaches to pursue advanced coaching education and licensing. The season is typically 9 months long (June through February), but can (depending on the team or coach) sometimes by a 12 month season.

For some, select soccer is the answer for the serious athlete involved in more than one sport as Select coaches usually allow for "excused" absences during the winter portion of the season. Practices are typically twice a week with the games on Saturday or Sunday. The "main" season is 10-12 weeks long in the fall, preceded by various tournaments in the summer months and a post-season tournament in the winter. Travel for games can be as far north as Everett, as far west as Bremerton, as far south as Olympia and as far east as North Bend.
